Columbia Neighborhood AllianceDiscussion forum for Columbia, MO neighborhood associations. |
| Welcome to the Columbia Neighborhood Alliance forum. One thing which
came out of the first Neighborhood Leadership Program hosted by the City of Columbia
early in 2009 was a sense among all the participants that one of the biggest difficulties
each neighborhood association faced was a feeling of isolation. Simply put, each
individual neighborhood association has almost existed in a vacuum, with little or no
contact with other neighborhood associations, little or no cohesiveness even on issues
which effect multiple neighborhoods. Efforts have been made in the past to create
something of a formal "alliance", but these were necessarily problematic, given the large
geographic area of the city and difficulty in coordinating meetings, or even sharing
information, among such a diverse group. Hence this forum. A technological tool to allow the formation of a virtual alliance, perhaps leading to a more formal alliance as time goes on. Because collectively we're smarter and more experienced than any one individual or neighborhood association. It is my hope that the various neighborhood associations in the City of Columbia will be able to benefit from the collective wisdom and experience of all in order to make all our neighborhoods and whole city better. To that end, we have created this forum for the sharing of information and ideas, tactics & strategies. Here you can post tips on things that have worked for you, a link to a great resource, or pose a question which others may have faced before. For the most part, everything is fair game, and the forum will evolve to meet the needs and desires of those who use it. If you have an idea or suggestion for a change to the forum site, drop a note to an administrator. And certainly, if you have something to share with others who wish to see our city grow and thrive, toss it out in the appropriate place. Cheers! |
